Fiddler Creek Cabins are located near area lakes for Montana fly fishing, Montana hunting and mountain hiking.  Nearby Red Lodge offers downhill skiing, golfing, sight seeing, mountain hiking and traveling the scenic Beartooth Highway.  Cooke City offers fabulous Montana snowmobiling.  White water rafting and whitewater kayaking on the Stillwater River, plus horseback riding and ATV rentals in the Beartooth Mountains are also available nearby.  Or ... just stay at the cabin, relax on the deck, and let the day go by.

Summer

Fishtail Family Fun Day
Fishtail Family Fun Day is held in June at Fishtail, Montana, just 7 miles from Fiddler Creek Cabins. This small town knows how to put on the fun: yard sales, the famous "Duck Race," exciting things at the Fishtail General Store, a parade, lots of fun game booths for kids, and great concessions, plus live music. A great Saturday of fun for people of all ages!

Red Lodge 4th of July Celebration
5 minutes from Fiddler Creek Cabins. July 2, 3, and 4. A parade at noon on each of those 3 days, and a great rodeo at 6 p.m. on the 2nd and 3rd, with a 3 p.m. rodeo on the 4th. The town is really full of all kinds of fun things for this special holiday!

Absaroka River Adventures
Absaroka River Adventures offers half and full day scenic and whitewater raft trips on the beautiful Stillwater River. We also offer float trips featuring our 2 person inflatable and 1 person sit-on-top kayaks.

Beartooth Scenic Byway

Designated a National Forest Scenic Byway, the Beartooth Highway has been described by former CBS correspondent Charles Kuralt as ‘the most beautiful drive in America’. Reaching heights of nearly 11,000 feet, this 69-mile 3 hour drive offers skytop views of snowcapped peaks, glaciers, alpine lakes and plateaus.

Absarokee Days (childrens activities and arts and crafts)
Absarokee Days is held the last Saturday in July. Local merchants have booths and there are various fund-raisers held throughout Absarokee. PTA hosts the annual barbecue and there is always a wonderful parade.

Farmers Market
Held the Saturday before Labor Day, the Farmer’s Market is a wonderful time to see friends and family or to meet the community. Local farmers bring in their goods and produce and local businesses set up booths during this annual fund raiser for the Absarokee Civic Club.

Labor Day Arts Fair & Wagons West Parade
This fair features 60-75 artist’s displaying beads, pottery, crafts, sculptures, furniture, and more in artists booths surrounding the Depot and Lions Club park. Live entertainment provided by Red Lodge’s own Peak-a-boos and the Country Rock’ N Cloggers.

Festival of Nations
Red Lodge Festival of Nations continues to honor its roots as a coal mining town through the diverse ethnic groups that worked and settled here. The Festival of Nations celebrates the Austrian-German-Swiss, English-Irish-Welsh, Finnish, Italian, Scandinavian, Scottish and Slavic cultures.

 

Red Lodge Mountain Man Rendezvous
Mountain men, cavalry, infantry, Indians, traders, scouts, buffalo hunters, whiskey runners, mule skinners, and horse traders from all over the world descend on Red Lodge for the Mountain Man rendezvous.

Rapelje Mountain Bike and Fine Arts Festival
The festival will include a Mountain Bike Endurance Race, Bicycle Fun Rides for people of all ages, BBQ Dining, and a Homesteader’s Costume Ball featuring Old Time String Band Music, and dances of the era.

'Running of the Sheep' Sheep Drive
'Running Of The Sheep' Sheep Drive features hundreds of sturdy Montana bred woolies charging down the six blocks of Main Street in an event some say is matched only by the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. The event also has a parade and contests, such as the ugliest sheep and the prettiest ewe. There will also be a precision draft horse cultivating event with prize money.

Red Lodge Mountain Resort (downhill skiing and snowboarding)
Red Lodge Mountain offers a big mountain and modern amenities at family friendly prices. Down the road is the lively western town of Red Lodge.

Red Lodge Nortic Center (cross-country skiing and snowshoeing)
Nestled at the base of the Beartooth Mountains, the Center is only 3 miles away from downtown Red Lodge.

Cooke City / Silver Gate (snowmobiling)
Gateway to Yellowstone National Park and the spectacular Beartooth high country, Cooke City / Silver Gate provides perhaps the longest winter sports season in Montana. The makers of both Yamaha and Arctic Cat snowmobiles have chosen the area as a test site and promotional film location for their machines.

Christmas Light Parade
The Columbus Parade of Lights is sure to get you in the Holiday Spirit. Each entry is lighted with Christmas lights and runs on generators. Come join us for this unique event.
